Nerva Altino puts himself forward in an inspirational, powerful conversation and performance at Western Washington University during Black History Month. Nerva covers the story from his new book More Than A Gift about his experiences in Haiti and starting a new life in New York. Nerva's parents wanted him and his brother Robenson to become doctors or lawyers, but they wanted to become classical pianist. There were many boundaries put up in front of Nerva and his brother Robenson to pursue this career, but they went beyond those boundaries and he will share how they overcame all of the obstacles and live the life they love.
